About Ibad ur Rehman
I’m a WordPress Community Manager at Cloudways. Enthusiast about Cloud Computing, AI, and Digital Marketing. Technical content creator, JavaScript advocate, educator, and a lifelong learner.
Love to code and explore the latest methods to maximize customer acquisition. In my free time, I like to read, watch a series or fly my favorite Cessna 172SP in X Plane 11 flight simulator.
Q. How did you come into your current field? Share a bit of the background?
Ans: I professionally stepped into software development in 2014 but at that time I was only creating php-based websites. Later, in 2016 I started working Full Stack mostly with JavaScript technologies for web and mobile.
I did work with WordPress every now and then but never took it as a full-time job until 2018 that’s when I joined Cloudways as a WordPress Community Manager.
Q. What’s the most interesting project you have done to date in WordPress?
Ans: I have worked on various sites and stores both for my own projects and for clients. It is difficult to put a finger on just one. All the projects are special in their unique sense.
Q. Have you ever been to any WordPress meetups or WordCamps? If yes did you learn anything useful?
Ans: Yes, I attended the first ever WordCamp Karachi in 2018 and attended virtual WCEU earlier this year.
Q. What does your workstation look like?
Ans: Currently working from home. I sure can take a good snap and send it to you.
Q. What kind of tools/software do you currently use for your creations?
Ans: I work heavily with VSCode, Photoshop, Illustrator, Assembla, Mixpanel, Ahref, etc.
Q. What interesting feature do you think you would like to see in WordPress and is currently missing?
Ans: Sophisticated tools for performance. Probably out of the box cache mechanism or auto image optimization.
Q. Out of the current plugins and themes which one do you like the most and why?
Ans: I spend a lot of time with Elementor. It is easy to use, fast, and has tons of elements that can be used to build anything.
Q. Which WordPress hosting do you use and would you recommend for your clients and others?
Ans: I would say Cloudways. Not because I work there I also use the service to host my personal projects and I love the way I can manage and enjoy the performance of cloud VPS.
Q. Do you like/love what you currently do in WordPress?
Ans: Yes. Though I need to explore new avenues especially in eCommerce sector.
Q. What would you like to do in the future in the current field or somewhere else?
Ans: I like to build stuff. Not sure what exactly I will be doing in the future but one thing is certain, I will be launching new tools and products to help the community at large.
Q. Can you give us some reference for whom we should conduct an interview next and why?
Ans: There are many. Jan Koch (WP Agency Summit), Paul Charlton (WP Tuts), Lee Jackson (Agency Trailblazers)
